SQL Database Administrator - Dallas, TX
Responsibilities
- Directing in database design, programming trouble shooting
and management of problems affecting IT and enterprise database
applications, as well as developing the area for future expansion.
- Continually analyze existing databases
and business processes in order to identify opportunities for improvement
- Develop and maintain documentation
for current databases and the data warehouse.
- Develop and maintain sound change and
release management practices for all database changes
- Receive moderate instructions on
routine work; general instructions on new assignments
- Work with business analysts and developers to
assist in technical analysis based on business requirements. Review
technical analysis to insure it meets specifications defined in the
business requirements document.
- Create and maintain any database documentation
- Responsible for setting direction for database
methodologies and setting a strategy for the data warehousing portion of
any business intelligence initiative
- Modify existing databases and database management
systems or direct programmers and analysts to make changes
- Experience with the design, management and
maintenance of complex SQL Server databases
- Extensive knowledge of current IT and computer
science concepts, issues, practices, methodologies, and trends,
particularly those relevant to database design and administration
- Experience with and knowledge of database
programming concepts including Structured Query Language, stored
procedures, and triggers
- Significant experience with analyzing and
troubleshooting the interaction between databases, operating systems, and
applications particularly in the areas of performance and resource usage
Required Experience / Skills
- 7+
years administering multiple SQL Server databases in a large, transactional,
production environment.
- JDEdwards
experience
- 3+
years MSAS experience (Proclarity experience a plus)
- Experience
with SQL Server 2005
- Ability to solve problems
quickly and completely
- Strong analytical skills and strong oral and
written communication skills
