Process Engineer Our Dallas/Ft. Worth client has an immediate opening for a highly driven, motivated candidate to join their team as a Process Engineer. The ideal candidate will work without appreciable supervision, design and implement manufacturing processes, instrumentation and equipment and assist in resolving related problems.
Responsibilities • Application of advanced engineering and scientific principles to the evaluation and solution of technical problems is required.
• Initiates the planning, organizing, performing, coordinating and/or directing of engineering work.
• Performs engineering studies.
• Remains abreast of and consults on technical advancements.
• Identifies and routinely uses the most effective, cost efficient and best practices to execute processes; continually evaluates their effectiveness and appropriateness.
• Designs and implements manufacturing processes, instrumentation, and equipment from the laboratory through pilot plant and manufacturing scale.
o Provides expertise in engineering, design, process and scale-up.
o Develops and recommends new process formula and technologies to achieve cost effectiveness and improved product quality.
o Contributes engineering expertise to new product scale-up, process optimization, technology transfer, and process validation.
o Recommends processes for the production of wire & cable.
• Establishes operating equipment specifications and improves manufacturing techniques.
• Assists the manufacturing operation in problem solving with regard to equipment and systems.
• Remains current on developments in field of expertise, regulatory requirements, as well as industry trends. Remains abreast of and consults on technical advancements.
• Resolves and/or facilitates the resolution of problems including identifying causes to prevent re-occurrence.
• Working without appreciable supervision, is accountable for maintaining and improving the efficiency/effectiveness of manufacturing processes, instrumentation, as well as equipment by providing expertise in engineering, design, process, scale-up, and related problem resolution.
• Utilizes knowledge and skills to accomplish work assignments that are performed in accordance with Company policy/procedures, regulatory agency standards/requirements, and within specified parameters.
• Independently conceives plans and conducts complex and/or original engineering projects. Works cooperatively as well as productively on assigned project teams.
• Proactively identifies and shares opportunities, concerns, and solutions with co-workers. Completes comprehensive reports and makes presentations.
• Identifies the components of assigned projects and allocates time appropriately based on priorities.
• Identifies relevant sources of information and utilizes them to make decisions.
• Tracks performance against specific objectives; contributions affect team/organizational results. Applies advanced engineering principles to solve difficult problems with little or no precedent which are multifaceted or cross-disciplinary in nature; exhibits ingenuity and creativity.
Required Experience / Skills • Minimum of six plus years of progressively more responsible experience in the design, development and implementation of manufacturing processes and equipment as related to wire & cable. • Strong physics or material science background.
• Broad technical knowledge; expertise in one or more relevant specialties is also required. Demonstrated ability to develop new design features as part of existing systems.
• Comprehensive written and verbal communication, interpersonal, facilitation, presentation, quantitative, analytical, organizational, and follow-up skills, the ability to meet deadlines on multiple projects as well as the ability to converse effectively with all levels of employees.
• Documented record of delivering to0l engineering information which adds value to management’s decision making process is required.
• Demonstrated ability to understand and comply with UL regulations and Company operating procedures, processes, policies and tasks.
• Six Sigma knowledge and expertise preferred.
• Experience in a Lean manufacturing environment preferred
Education • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical/Mechanical Engineering, a related field or equivalent experience.
