Solution Architect - Dallas, TX
Solutions Architect provides the necessary leadership, analysis and design tasks related to the development and implementation of an Enterprise Solutions Architecture. The Architect has a broad and deep technology background and takes a lead role in identifying and evaluating new business capabilities, emerging technologies and their applicability to current and future revenue models and the systems that enable them. The role focuses primarily on business requirements, workflow and leveraging technology to enable or alter business processes or practices
Responsibilities
- Act as a technology subject matter expert for business leadership.
- Provide strategic consultation to assigned line-of-business (LOB) customers in defining or designing business processes and functions, as well as in researching, identifying and internally marketing enabling technologies based on customer requirements.
- Defines the principles to guide solution decisions for the enterprise.
- Consult with business-facing projects and maintain knowledge of their progress.
- Collaborate with the enterprise program management office on reporting project status, issues, risks and benefits.
- Seek ways to apply new technology to, and reuse existing technology for, business processes; research and provide information on technical trends and competitors' practices relevant to assigned LOB customers.
- Develops rapid proof-of concept solutions to evaluate potential automation paths in near-real world scenarios
- Creates business process models, engages in gap analysis and envisioning activities
- Evaluates systems capabilities of potential partners, vendors or acquisitions.
- Assess near-term needs, using structured interview processes, to establish business priorities; consult with technical subject matter experts and develop alternative technical solutions; advise on options, risks, costs vs. benefits, and impact on other business processes and system priorities.
- Collaborate with other IT functional areas to remain apprised of project status, and inform LOB customer management of progress; conversely, keep IT's technology and service managers aware of key LOB customer issues, identifying and resolving potential problems and conflicts.
- Facilitate development of cross-LOB (enterprise) solutions that combine knowledge of particular business processes and issues, general technological options, and process facilitation techniques.
- Work closely with the program management office to ensure alignment of plans with what is being delivered.
- Participate in enterprise strategy development, including environmental analysis, opportunity identification, value cases and business innovation portfolio development.
- Participate in enterprise architecture development, including business architecture, information architecture, application portfolio and technical architecture.
- Develop, motivate and direct staff to create a team environment, and enable staff to fulfill the LOB customer operating objectives.
Required Experience / Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Operations Research, Industrial Engineering, Computer Science or another related field. An MBA or Master's Degree is highly desirable at least 10 years of applicable systems development experience (C++, Java, .Net) either in a consulting or corporate environment.
- Start-up experience is an advantage depending on a candidate’s mix of other skills and experiences.
- Experience with standard industry process improvement techniques (e.g. Lean, Agile, Six Sigma, DMAIC, Kaizen, TOC, TPS) is required.
- Individuals should have experience with complex program management within a highly matrixed environment along with financial modeling experience including cost-benefit and ROI analysis.
- Consulting experience including exceptional client relationship management and complex problem solving skills are strongly desired.
